Applying for Employment with the City
The City of Chanute is an equal-opportunity employer. If you are interested in working for the City of Chanute, complete an employment application or pick one up in the Human Resource Department, located on the third floor of the Memorial Building, located at 101 S. Lincoln. Submit completed application to:

Submission Guidelines
Applications must be received in the Human Resource Department no later than the filing deadline on the job advertisement. Applications received after the deadline are not accepted. Faxed or emailed application materials are acceptable.

If applicable, all necessary certifications or supplemental questionnaires must be attached. Resumes are welcome but are not accepted in lieu of a fully completed and signed employment application.

The City of Chanute uses a number of different methods available in order to recruit job applicants including but not limited to:
  • Advertisements in local newspaper and website
  • Internal job postings
  • State journals and websites
  • Use of professional organization websites
All new hires must successfully complete a physical and drug screen. In addition to these requirements, all newly hired police and fire employees must also successfully complete a psychological exam.
