Animal Control

Overview

The Chanute Animal Control Department is a service provided by the City of Chanute, Kansas. The department is staffed by Officer Bill Penner, and is dedicated to animal safety and health, public safety, and owner education. The Animal Shelter is usually open between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We are open one Saturday per month, and one evening per week on a rotating basis. Call 620-431-5768
for details.

Volunteering

Shelter volunteers are not needed at this time, however an Events/Publicity Coordinator would be appreciated to plan events such as Tag Day, pet fairs etc.

Donations

Contributions are greatly appreciated, and will be used to provide those extras not provided by the regular budget. Donations of towels, blankets, and treats are always welcome. Rawhide and other chews are particularly helpful this time of year.

A great donation idea for cats would be cat exercisers from Stretch and Scratch.
