The Chanute Historical Society invites you to visit the Museum of Chanute history located south of the historic Santa Fe Railroad Depot. Exhibits include a replica of Octave Chanute's 1896 biplane glider which was once displayed in the Smithsonian in Washington DC, historic artifacts from the Santa Fe Railroad and Harvey House, collections from pro baseball player Paul Lindblad and basketball great Ralph Miller, an assortment of memorabilia from the southeast Kansas oil industry, and much more.

The Chanute Historical Society is a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve and protect historical artifacts relating to Chanute and the surrounding area. The society meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 2:30pm at the Historical Museum located at 0(zero) East Elm Street in downtown Chanute. The public is invited.

The Museum is open Saturday and Sunday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. May through September.
