 Docent is a French word meaning “Guide” and is used universally in Museums and Galleries.

The Chanute Art Gallery Docent Program was initiated when the Art Gallery was founded in 1973. Over 250 women have served as a Docent over the thirty years of the Art Galleries existence.

Schedules to work are worked out for each Volunteer. A Volunteer can work however much time she wishes…..the Volunteer works out her own schedule with the Gallery Chairman.

Docents are informed about each changing Monthly Exhibit. They also are knowledgeable About the Galleries Permanent Core Collection Containing over 600 Works of Art. Docents assist at an Open House for Artists, Parties, Dinners, all festive occasions.
