• Chanute’s community network is
peered with the AT&T/SBC, Savvis Communications, Kan-ed and
Midwest Connections networks to provide a highly reliable
community network.
• Through multiple interfaces
with AT&T/SBC, Chanute is able to offer network patrons “off
the fiber network” connections to the community network via
leased point-to-point circuits and both frame relay and ATM
connections. Through these leased connections, Chanute is able
to offer complete, high-speed data connections throughout the
region.
• Certain governmental and
institutional patrons may also be eligible for a high-speed,
broadband wireless connection to the community network.
• As an aggregation point on the
State-wide Kan-ed network, Chanute is able to offer Internet-2
connectivity to qualifying, eligible network participants.
These entities include qualifying schools and colleges,
libraries, and medical facilities.
• Currently the City of Chanute
is not offering connections to the community network at less
than a full T-1 equivalent bandwidth. This high performance
network is ideally suited for the needs of Chanute’s
businesses and institutional entities.
• Chanute also offers co-location
space with direct fiber network connections. These spaces
provide a disaster recovery site and off-site functionality
and protection for critical business needs.
• The City of Chanute is
interested in providing communications alternatives that bring
additional benefits to the network patrons in Chanute. New
capabilities and features are being developed continually. Please contact the City if you have
communications requirements that are not currently being
served by any of the other providers operating in the City of
Chanute.
