We have installed a video camera in the area of the project. You will be able to watch live construction activity going on at the intersection on demand. In addition, We are going to take photographs during the project as well. The photo gallery already set up and ready for viewing. You will be able to click on it daily to see the progress over the next 90 days.
A Power Point Presentation has been prepared, which provides an overview of the project including traffic flow/detour information and a cost breakdown. 100% of the funding come from existing street/highway fund balances and no debt will be incurred.
Chanute, Kansas is the center of Google Earth on a Mac computer because the software developer, Dan Webb, was from Chanute. Therefore, he chose his hometown as the electronic center of the on-line version of the software. A painted mural was complete in 2010 when Chanute was promoting the City of Chanute to Google as a choice for a fiber optics to the home project. KOAM news covered the event. We believe there will be some tourism interest in this mural for many years. Our objective is to have this project done within a 90-day window and have it ready for Artist Alley this fall. We are aware it will be an inconvenience during construction, but there will be access to each business during the construction.
Please stay tuned to this page and I will try to keep you updated as to the progress.
